Get You There

Philadelphia is served by all the major U.S. carriers. It is a US Airways hub, so they have the most gates and daily flights. Downtown Philly is a brief cab ride away. If you prefer trains, or want a cheaper alternative, take the SEPTA to 30th Street and cab from there to your hotel.

Get You Around

If you stay near the city center cars are not necessary. Most sights are within walking distance and taxis are easy to find. Also, check out PhillyCarShare. If you're from a car-sharing city like I am, you may have a reciprocity agreement.

Get You Settled

Rittenhouse Square is a posh park near downtown Philadelphia. It's surrounded by boutique hotels, bed and breakfasts, small shops and great food. The neighborhood is walkable and very safe at night. You'll love the green space, gorgeous brownstones, and al fresco dining.

Get You A Table

Hit Rouge for dinner. It has a hopping sidewalk cafe and serves the only burger you'll ever eat with a fork! Nearby 20th Street is packed with cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes. The food is local, fresh and the chefs have a very unique take on the dishes. To see what I mean, try Twenty Manning. Don't miss the local delicacy, Philly cheesesteaks!

Get You Going

If you've come to Philly you're in the birthplace of America. It's home to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and houses copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Check out Independence Park to see all of these and more. They even have a working tavern! Next head over to Benjamin Franklin Parkway to check out the museums. Have one more day? How about some shopping on Antiques Row.

Off The Beaten Path -- The quest for a great cup a' Joe

La Colombe Torrefaction is a local coffeehouse. Located just off Rittenhouse Square, it serves up some dark roast strong enough for a West Coaster like myself. They have free internet access and a very laid-back vibe, so it's an inviting place to park yourself and sample the local brew.
