Tipple of the week...

I discovered a wonderful new cocktail this weekend while dining at Enrico's darlings! It's the bartender's special and so new that it doesn't even have a name yet. But the flavor, wow! It's a citrus/basil/gin martini. Here's the breakdown:

muddle some basil in the bottom of a martini shaker
add 1 squirt basil honey simple syrup (no, I have no idea how to make it either...)
2 shakes of orange bitters
squeeze 1 half lemon for the juice
and add a jigger of gin

garnish with a sprig of fresh basil and if you're Enrico's bartender,
a curled lime rind as long as Tarzan's vine.

Enjoy!

Money Quote of the Day

I have wisdom. I feel love. I live in the present and I try to present a dimension that brings harmony and healing. My concept is the opposite of George W. Bush

These are a few of my favorite things - Hotels

I love to travel. However I hate to fly. So any destination I am heading to had better have a fabulous, design hotel just waiting to drop me in the lap of luxury. I've been fortunate enough to experience the ideal combination of a perfect room, gorgeous view, high end service a few times. I now leave you with a list of my favorite hotels in the world.

- Deseo Hotel - Playa del Carmen, Mexico
- Hotel Astoria - St. Petersburg, Russia
- Posada del Angel - Antigua, Guatemala
- Dona Maria - Seville, Spain
- Bernardus Resort - Carmel Valley, California
- Four Sisters Inn - Dana Point, California
- The Standard Hotel - Los Angeles, California (Sunset, not Downtown of course...)
- Korakkia - Palm Springs, California

Have a favorite of your own? I'd love to hear about it darlings!

Fake headlines I'd love to see

The world is full of such nonsensical news, I thought for giggles I'd make up a few headlines of my own this week. The news I'd really pay to read...

Jennifer Aniston pays Vince Vaughn to be her Oscar date
Sharon Stone time travels back to 80's
Kate Bosworth - "What's underwear"
Charmed's
Allysa Milano to Mano-E-Mano with Jessica Simpson
Pamela Anderson's boob in bid for freedom
Paris Hilton in peacock dress, accidentally flushed & shot by Dick Cheney
Yanni jailed for hitting girlfriend -
wait this one is a real headline!

Never a dull moment my friends.

Red Carpet Countdown

Early Red Carpet thoughts...

Kyra Knightley - loved the jewel toned mermaid dress. And I loved that she had a little tummy.

Amy Adams - pockets were a great idea, why is she also carrying a purse?

Naomi Watts - it's like someone shredded her ugly nude dress and then put two rubber bands around her to keep it together. Heinous!

Helena Bonham Carter - you are the most reliable fashion trainwreck I've ever seen. Isn't that hairstyle from Mars Attacks?!

Heath Ledger & Michelle Williams - What a beautiful couple. He needs to lose the Casanova facial hair. Michelle's dresses just get better and better. Who would have thought marigold would look good on a blonde?

Will & Jada Pinkett Smith - Again, what a great couple. Funny, charming, and the color of her dress...stunning

Salma Hayek - always hot. They shot her and panned away, but the teal color what a great choice!

Sandra Bullock - Her dress had a gorgeous shape (and pockets). However she needs color. What was going on underneath? Black body stocking, no, no, no

Reese Witherspoon & Ryan Phillipe - Loved the embroidered pink dress, but it photographed like a silver Christmas ornament. Ryan was working the Edwardian tux. Nice!

Felicity Huffman - the deepest v-dress I've ever seen. Zac Posen origami, you lucky, lucky girl.

Tea time

Hello lovelies. I wanted to share a new discovery in the Polk Corridor. I had lunch with friends today at Leland Tea Company and it was all that. Designed like a speakeasy, they literally have a wall of tea options, served hot or cold. I ordered the tea lunch for one and received my tea, a salad, fruit salad and a tea cookie all for under $10. I even received a free refill on my tea. Now that's service!

Better yet, this is a place with a heart. The owner puts on "Welcome Wednesdays". Once a week a group of professionals getting together to discuss the best of San Francisco. Just what this city has lacked, a warm welcome. Kudos to you Leland Tea Company, you're a great new edition to our fair city!
