February is coming and I know that all of your are planning your beach getaways. I too hear the siren song of a white stretch of sand and cerulean waves. But with all the luggage restrictions (and those nasty fees!), you have to be a savvy packer. The first thing that’s going into my luggage? Those gorgeous silver sandals from De La Rue you see at right. They are the perfect day to night accessory. The brainchild of Leticia Treffot Calvo they are not only amazingly chic, they are also eco-conscious. The soles are made from recycled tires! Love it, I can be fabulous and planet friendly at the same time. I chatted with Leticia briefly by e-mail last week to inquire how she struck upon such a great design. Here’s what she had to say:
For the past ten years, I have worked in the wine industry in almost every capacity – from retail, to sommelier, to sales rep, to export director and educator. All the while I always had an idea for a sassy, elegant eco-sandal based on soles cut out of old tires. To be honest with you, I’m not sure where the idea itself came from, I just know that it has been then for the longest time! Somewhere down the line I bought into everyone telling me that the concept was simply not feasible, until about 2 years ago a dear friend of mine called me on it! I started working on the project on weekends and holidays and haven’t turned back since!
A fashionista, a business woman and a dreamer…I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! Want to own a piece of her work? You can order at Noblivity.com.
